Erica Rhodes

Erica Rhodes is an oboist and woodwind specialist from Fayetteville, NC. She began her musical journey in childhood and fell in love with the oboe in high school. After graduating from Cape Fear High School, she earned a BM in Music Education and a K-12 Music teaching license from Meredith College in 2016. There, she participated in the White Iris Light Opera, the Sinfonietta, Encore! a capella ensemble, the Flute Ensemble, and the Meredith Chorale. She also regularly performed with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra and the Oklahoma Haydn Festival. After graduating, Erica joined the US Army Bands as an oboist, vocalist, and piccolo player. In the Army, she was stationed at the 282d Army Band at Ft. Jackson, SC, where she performed with the BCT Woodwind Trio, the Dozier Winds woodwind quintet, and the concert and marching bands. She earned several military awards for her featured performances throughout the southeast including the International Double Reed Society conference, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the SC Music Educators Association conference, UNC School of the Arts, and UNC-Greensboro. Erica has been teaching music privately for nearly a decade and has a particular passion for chamber music. She recently performed as an alumni soloist with the Meredith College Sinfonietta. Erica is a lifelong learner and has earned an MS in Complementary and Alternative Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences and is currently pursuing an MSPS in pharmaceutical research. She is currently enjoying life as a stay-at-home mother of her two amazing kids and playing in the Fayetteville Symphonic Band with her husband Matthew. In her free time, Erica enjoys gardening, taking care of her chickens, and running races with her family, and is very excited to be a part of the Snyder Music Academy staff.
